I was very close in taking 3rd in my class at one of the meets (.04 behind, damn!) but when my instructor took my Z out on the same track, he did it in first place time (though it was the fun runs so it didn't count). I had him drive it just so i know it's me and not the Z. I was running on RE730's and it does well until it gets really hot; then it gets all greasy and slippery. But if i were you, practice on some street tires first (ofcourse if you can get another set of rims with DOT slicks that would be tight) just so that you will get use to your Z's abilities w/o any improvements. What i find disturbing (no better word to discribe it) is those who run on slicks on the track and streets for day to day. If you ever get cought in a situation where you need to act quick and use what you learned on the track, you're screwed since the street tires are not going to perform like the track tires. Get use to how street tires first; sure you wouldn't come first or second or whatnow, but it will make you a better driver on the road. After you feel confortable on the streets, get slicks and go kick ass. Just IHO.
